Next 15 and 23 August, summer cinema is back at the historic centre of Santiago de Compostela headed by Curtocircuíto - International Film Festival, with a new edition of our popular Noites Curtas, two free outdoor screenings in which a special selection of films produced by the festival’s programming team will be featured for the occasion.

At the first screening that will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 15 August at 10:00 p.m. at the Praza das Praterías, attendees will be able to see a selection of some of the most outstanding short films from the last edition of the Santiago de Compostela International Film Festival, marked by several of its fundamental features, such as taking risks and the diversity of the genres and inception of the films. Animation occupies an important part of the programme with works such as Contact, by Alessandro Novelli (winner of the Premio Penínsulas, that Curtocircuíto awards to Spanish productions), I Want Pluto to be a Planet Again, by Marie Amachoukeli and Vladimir  Mavounia Kouka, nominated for a César, and the innovative Martin Pleure, made by manipulating the video game, Grand Theft Auto 5. The experimental component of the festival will be present with Over & Over, collage work by Michael Fleming in which he traces footage focused on the representation of fear and revenge in commercial cinema, and there will be room for comedy with the Spanish Les vimos reír y creímos que era de felicidad (We Saw Them Laugh and We Believed It Was Happiness), from the Vermut Collective. The selection is completed by two works that were shown at the prestigious Sundance Festival: It’s a Date, by the American  Zachary Zezima, and Slapper, by the Australian Luci Schroder.

This first Noite Curta will be complemented by a second rendezvous the following week at the Praza da Quintana. If in the first screening, you took a walk down memory lane to the last Curtocircuíto, on Thursday, 23 August, we will take a look even further back to celebrate the 15 years of making history that the festival is celebrating this year. The selection of the last Noite Curta this summer will include some some of the films that were a part of Curtocircuíto’s journey and it will prepare the public for the 15th Edition of the Festival, which takes place between 29 September and 7 October.

Admission is free to the two Noites Curtas screenings. If weather conditions are unfavourable, we will announce an alternative location for the screenings in our networks.
